Build Break Rebuild was a collaborative art therapy exhibition between three alumni from the School of Visual Arts MPS Art Therapy graduate program as part of the SVA alumni artist residency. The idea stemmed from an interest in how found objects can be recycled and transformed into a therapeutic art intervention that also integrates concepts of sustainability through creativity.

Over two months, we traveled to Dead Horse Bay, an area just over the bridge from Rockaway Beach, to collect discarded materials in order to make art. Each of us applied our personal aesthetics to our individual artwork, while developing a collective dialogue through the art.

During the open reception, we invited guests to participate in creating a collaborative mandala using the remaining materials we collected.
