RESPONSE ART PROCESS — a visual exploration of the artist to therapist dual identity through collage art.

Response Art is a form of visual processing for art therapists to explore countertransference, build empathy, contain session material, and practice self care. For many art therapists, response art acts as a central tool for developing clinical insight into client treatment.

My collage art practice developed as a desire to observe my own need to create and understand the impact art has on emotional health and well being. In 2017, I conducted my thesis research on how response art through visual journaling can support the art therapist-in-training.

Today, Majority of my collage art is a reflection of my experiences as a clinician thus far. I structure my art routine around weekly creative exercises. With collage, I select images to create work that appears minimal and abstract in nature to explore the inner and outer parts of the human experience.

Response Art Projects include: Landscape Series (2016-17), Collage Book (2018), Being Human (2018), Part Series (2019-ongoing)

Series art is available upon request, although select response art and updates can be found on my Instagram.
